Abstract

For humans the birth occurs before 37th week of pregnancy and it is called as preterm birth. Pregnancy normally lasts about 40 weeks. The Electro Mechanical activity of the uterine of humans can be studied using Electro Hysterogram. The uterine contraction and relaxation are based upon action potential and resting potential of smooth muscle fibers of uterine body. The EHG and tocogram acts as an investigation tool in the diagnosis of various uterine disorders. In our study we investigated the hysterogram and tocogram signals of pregnancy women. The signals are taken at 24th week of pregnancy. The signals are characterized using discrete statistical analysis for the detection of premature labor. The time domain signal is been converted into frequency domain and power spectral density is measured. Features like energy entropy, sparseness, fuzzy entropy, irregularity factor are extracted. Mean, Standard deviation, median, skewness, kurtosis values are calculated for the extracted features.
