The Effectiveness of the Role of Extension Agent in Empowerment Coffee Farmers in the Amstirdam Region in Malang Regency

Abstract

This study’s aims is to analyze the effectiveness of extension agent in empowerment coffee farmers in the Amstirdam region in Malang regency. The research method was based on survey. Population of this research are coffee farmers who already have sampel measurement based on Yamane Formula, sampel total is 384 people with extension agent. Research population total are 9.503 people. The sampling technique used  Proposionalrandom sampling with details Ampelgading district are 72 people, Tirtoyudo 133 people, Dampit 86 people and Sumbermanjing Wetan 93 people. Indicators of the Effectiveness of the Role of Self-Helping Trainers are measured using the variables of Facilitator, Marketing Partner, Farmer Mediator, Farmer Advocacy and Assistance. Data collection techniques using questionnaires, interviews and literature study. Data analysis techniques used quantitative descriptive data analysis by presenting the frequency distribution of scores of each variable item and the mean of each variable item. The results showed that the average accumulation (Mean) of all answers per item in the variable Effectiveness of the Role of Self-Helping Trainers in Empowering Coffee Farmers was 3.92. So it can be concluded that in general the variable Role of Self-Helping Workers is included in the Effective category. The most dominant indicator is in question number 3, with the highest mean (mean) of 4.01 (classified in the High category), which is a statement regarding "self-help counselors" As marketing partner for coffee farmers in improving their farming business', that is the Marketing Partner Variable. Where the majority of respondents as many as 227 people or 59.4% answered Agree. The weakest indicator of effectiveness is in question number 2, with the lowest mean (mean) of 3.84 (classified in the High category), which is a statement on "Self-help counselors helping farmers in the search for information, marketing, technology and capital '' on the Facilitator variable. Where the majority of respondents were 216 people or 56.5% answered Agree. Conclusions of the results of the study in general The role of self-help extension agents is included in the Effective category. While the most dominant variable is as a marketing partner, while the variable that has the lowest effectiveness compared to other variables is the role of the Facilitator in particular in facilitating the search for marketing, technology and capital information.
