Abstract

Increasing popularity in cloud computing in comparison to traditional systems has given rise to the need for on-demand fault tolerance services as well as. In this paper, we propose FTM Plus- an architecture for providing fault tolerance as a service for cloud applications and cloud computing. We propose a reliable fault tolerance middleware for supporting fault tolerance as a service in a cloud environment. The fault tolerance middleware provides the client with the choice of using a desired fault tolerance service as well as customise fault tolerance policies for their application. We test the proposed framework using CloudSim Plus simulations to demonstrate the performance of the architecture.

Keywords: Cloud Computing, fault tolerance middleware, fault tolerance as a service, system-level fault tolerance.
