Abstract

This study aims to analyze relation of the the innovation resistance and intention to using mobile banking at rural banks in Indonesia.  Innovation resistance is measured by functional barrier and psychological barrier. Functional barrier consists of usage barrier, value barrier and risk barrier. Whereas psychological barrier consists of tradition barrier and image barrier. The research respondents consisted of 100 respondents. Independent t-test samples are used to test the research hypothesis. Respondents who have the intention to adopt mobile banking have low innovation resistance, while those who do not have the intention have high resistance. The results showed a significant difference in the level of usage barrier, traditional barrier and image barrier between respondents who had the intention of adopting mobile banking with respondents who did not have the intention. While the risk barrier and value barrier do not show significant differences.   Innovation resistance can also occur due to lack of knowledge and training related to the use of mobile banking. Therefore, financial education programs related to technology by understanding the characteristics of their customers must be a concern of the bank.
