Abstract

The Internet of things field is lately gaining interest to propel our lives. On anytime-anywhere basis, the things around us could be connected to the internet and this connection is established by an intelligent component called IoT gateway. As IoT is the interconnected networking paradigm, smart objects generate pool of heterogeneous data and the way how these data are managed in IoT gateway and how these data’s can be delivered as a valuable information to the end user remains to be a challenge, when considering the present non comprehensive structure of the gateway. To alleviate this problem, an adaptive smart gateway architecture with core elements for IoT has been proposed in this article for improved data management. For designing such an adaptive gateway with comprehensive feature, a bio- inspired technique has been adopted based on chameleonic behavior. Finally, the experimentation and verification of the designed gateway components are made using Colored Petri Nets and the behavioral properties are verified from the state space statistics of the designed petri net model of the adaptive gateway.
