Optimized Blockchain Network for Securing Digital Evidences of Forensic Laboratories
It is very much necessary that important data is stored in a secure way and it is process securely. Sensitive information need to be tamper proof as more chances to get altered intentionally. Such, informative data can present in any format like image, audio or video. For forensic evidences there is a great threat that malicious people will change it. The forensic report generated from pathology lab traverse through lab to doctor, doctor to police dept and from there to court in many cases. To make this flow very transparent and to maintain immutability of forensic report, Blockchain technology is appropriate. Blockchain provides the medium to carry out transaction in fully secured and transparent environment. This paper proposes a secure forensic evidence system using blockchain platforms. Ethereum platform is used to implement the system. The use of blockchain data structure to store the forensic evidence achieves the properties such as authenticity, transparency and security. The proposed system achieves immutability and traceability in forensic evidence system.
