Study of Perception of Managers towards job satisfaction amongst Public and Private Banks with reference to Pune city.

Abstract

In Today’s uncertain world work environment has undergone with gradual change in work pattern. One of the significant reasons for the change is globalization and tremendous improved technology. Work culture has definitely had good impact on job satisfaction level of employees as well as managers. Modern environment of work presents new challenges and also creates new opportunities for people. Banking is a backbone industry of our nation and perception of managers from banking sector is also changes regarding their job. Manager’s perception about their satisfaction and employee’s satisfaction level are two important factors for successful   banking operations. As the efficient management of human resources always  has been given  importance to higher job satisfaction[1] . Present study examined the perception of managers towards their job satisfaction level in public and private sector banks in Pune city.   For this research, managers from State bank of India and IDBI bank from Public sector and  HDFC and Axis bank’s managers  from Private sector bank were  selected. Payment, work culture, role of manager, job security, team work and cooperation, Reward and Recognition and security these variables are tested with the help of Man Whitney test. According to article given by Australia university ,Bank Managers are accountable for coordinating and leading the operational roles of financial establishments such as banks, construction of  societies or credit amalgamations. They manage front-office operations, Take care of   customer service in priority basis and direct regular team meetings and training sessions.[2]  So manager is a key attribute in the banking sector and his perception about job satisfaction certainly help to improve the business and the human resources of the bank. It has been observed through the study that bank managers working in public sector bank are more satisfied than bank mangers working in private sector.
