Abstract

An mobile ad-hoc network (MANET) is a set of wireless mobile nodes that form a temporary network without the help of any centralized management, and each mobile node functions act as a router. In MANETs, the key management complexity and the computational load are strongly subject to constraint by the node’s available resources and the dynamic topology. The algorithm used to generate and distribute the keys should consume lesser energy because nodes are energy constrained. The proposed approach makes use of polynomial based key management scheme for MANETs. Initially, network is partitioned into group of clusters. The keying process will be done only when there is a movement of nodes is identified within the cluster. As a result of that the communication and computation cost would be minimized and the durability of the network will increase. The performance of the polynomial key management scheme with clustering and without clustering are compared.
