Performance And Experimental Investigation On C.I Engine Using Mexicana Oil Biodiesel
Abstract
In recent centuries, biodiesel utilization in C.I engines has got attention due to increase population growth. Biodiesel has been demonstrated to be a virtuous alternative because of its performance corresponding to diesel and ability of reducing greenhouse gas emissions. In this study, the effects of engine load and amount of biodiesel percentage on the performance and emission characteristics of C.I Engine has been examined and presented. The biodiesel blends of Argemone Mexicana were used in the present study. The results for biodiesel blend (i.e. 60% diesel, 40% Argemone) with diesel showed slight rise in brake power. There was average 0.061kg/kWh increase in specific fuel consumption for the biodiesel blends at full load. The carbon monoxide (CO) and hydrocarbons (HC) emissions decreases for the biodiesel blend, while Nox emission was higher as compared to normal diesel.
