An Examination Of Factors Influencing The Cost Of Township Road Construction In Jigawa State Nigeria

Abstract

Construction of Infrastructures is one of the basic task of the three tiers of Government in Nigeria, the construction of township road in Jigawa state is one of the areas where past and present governments give prior attention. The cost of township roads construction consumes more in the 2016,2017 and 2018 capital budgets. This study was undertaken to investigate the factors influencing the cost of construction township roads in Jigawa state. 76 questionnaires were administered to stakeholders involved in construction of township roads in Jigawa state 43 questionnaires which constituted 56.5% of the administered were used for conducting the analysis. The data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics, from the analysis of the investigation carried out, lack of government official layout plan, inadequate knowledge of soil bearing capacity is found as the factor influencing cost of township road construction in Jigawa state. Government should intensively act in providing good layout to urban areas and tackle encroachment into utility service areas across the state..
