Abstract

This study investigates the effects of landscape elements in the sound frequency spectrum of a park. The frequency spectrum between 63Hz-8kHz is analyzed based on the study of the park located in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. The study was conducted on three days and three timelines. The measurements were taken for identified 10 points of the park based on prominent landscape elements and sound sources using Norsonic 140 sound level meter. The result reveals that the lower frequency spectrum can be altered by landscape elements. It is also observed that the fountain, the prominent landscape element of the park contributes to the overall soundscape of the located point. It is also observed that shrubs and ground cover have less effect on soundscape compare to trees and fountain.
