A Case Study of Academic Performative Measures in a Malaysian Technical University
Abstract
Neo liberalism has crept into higher education with pervasive paradox where institutions make decisions based on market demands towards becoming an enterprise university. In return, academics are now faced with increased academic, administrative and entrepreneurial duties and workload. In higher education, academic achievement is measured using academic performative measures by each university which details the task that academics need to fulfilled. While there is an increasing demand of academics to do more teaching, research and community service, there is also increasing pressure to improve the quality and integrity of such work (Gregory and Lodge, 2015). Through analysis using Qualitative Aproach objective of this research is to present the analyses of the processes, outcomes and impacts of academic performative measures in the university are discussed in detail. Finding for this research has found three categories states namely General, Challenge/Problems, Motivations/Solutions/Strategy which is divided into main nodes and sub nodes. .
