Abstract

This paper comprises of a spiral solar thermal collector without absorber plate. The central focus of this paper is to use spiral thermal collector with double exposure and to compare the experimental results with the results of ansys simulation. Also, we focused on the error percentage between those results. The advantage of spiral tubes over the straight tubes is that it has higher convection heat transfer coefficient. In this experiment; we initially created the ansys model of the spiral thermal collector and then analyzed. Then we checked those results with the experimental one. Experiment was done on May 24 with several mass flow rates of 0.055 kg per second, 0.036 kg per second, 0.014 kg per second at various time intervals of 11am-12pm, 1pm-2pm and 2pm-3pm. The experimental and analytical results depict a maximum error of 0.6 percentages. This shows the rejection of prototype model of solar spiral thermal collector since the analysis results are closed to the experimental results.
