Abstract

In the current scenario, the cloud storage systems posed some major complications in the field of digital data. The underlying issues presented with large heaps of duplicated files identified from the storage systems exerting an unnecessary load within. The Deduplication is considered to be a method that is very effective in the field of systems storage, especially done in huge scale. Through incorporating deduplication technique posed to quintessential tool that has received critical attention under large-scale storage systems. The deduplication facilitates in eliminating the redundant data, thereby improves the storage utility and also minimizes the overall storage cost. The paper considers and reviews on the major literature sources that emphasizes on the presently available data deduplication techniques alongside with various existing taxonomies for deduplication techniques that are built on storage of cloud data and the paper mainly concentrate on the four different strategies namely byte-level data deduplication, file-level data deduplication strategy, target based deduplication and block-level data deduplication technology. Besides, the paper also focuses much deeper attention on the deduplication technique with regards to text files, image and video data. This paper deliberates on the important factors and challenges that are currently existing, followed with a suitable solution for the same.
