Abstract

A compact slotted patch antenna for Super Wide-Band (SWB) applications is proposed. The presented antenna has an asymmetric feed line and the truncated rectangular ground plane is provided with a hemispherical slot for obtaining an improved bandwidth. The optimized slotted antenna has been implemented on FR4 substrate with dimensions of 19mm x 29mm x 1.6mm. The performance of the antenna was validated analytically for super wideband (SWB) operation from 2.9 GHz to 35.1 GHz. A stable radiation pattern is achieved, and a maximum gain of 7.5 dBi was observed for the antenna at 11.8 GHz. The SWB antenna has a superior fractional bandwidth of 170.02%. The high Bandwidth Dimension Ratio (BDR) of 3291.21 shows that the proposed antenna has both wide bandwidth and miniaturized dimensions when compared to other SWB designs. Hence, this antenna is a potential candidate for super wideband
