Abstract

In the current paper palm kernel ester is prepared by trans-esterification of palm kernel oil in the presence of base catalyst and alcohol as co-reactant. Studies on palm kernel methyl ester has been performed to find the effectiveness of palm kernel ester. Simultaneous verification of properties of ester is done, to understand whether the ester meets the ASTM standards, to be used as a fuel. Finally, the applicability of the ester in place of conventional diesel on a four stroke diesel engine is examined.
