Abstract

Solar photovoltaic is one of the direct conversions of sun energy in to electrical energy. This conversion is done using photovoltaic panels. In case of dc load, a dc to dc converter is needed to track maximum power from available photovoltaic energy due to change of solar irradiance. Exact maximum power tracking with fixed step is not possible, as it will oscillate below maximum power point. So to track proper maximum power a variable step size is required. This paper proposes a variable step size maximum power point tracking techniques for dc to dc boost converter using variable power slope region. It also explores the total harmonic distortion analysis of the system.
