Abstract

The ability to think critically is a person's ability to be able to understand, apply, conduct analysis, and evaluate information to solve a problem. The ability to think critically is very important for students to have an exception to students who have cognitive abilities in the low category (slow learner). Students who have low critical thinking skills will have difficulty in solving HOTS type problems. Teaching materials that do not contain critical thinking skills have an impact on the ineffectiveness of learning objectives. This study aims to analyze, design, and develop a handout design based on Computational Thinking so that the critical thinking skills of slow learner students increase. Handout development using the ADDIE model. The research subjects were slow learner students in class XI of SMA Muhammadiyah 3 Yogyakarta. The instruments used were interviews, observation, and documentation. Interview guidelines are used to obtain data about student characteristics. Observation guidelines are used to obtain data about the curriculum, and teaching materials used. Documentation is used to document everything needed in the development of this handout. Data analysis consisted of reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The Analysis Phase is used to determine the need for developing teaching materials. The design phase is used to develop teaching materials in the form of handouts as needed. The results showed that the design of teaching material development was adjusted to the characteristics of slow learner students using the ADDIE method. This research is expected to be a reference for other researchers in developing computational thinking-based handouts to improve critical thinking skills.
