Abstract

Globally, there are 16 million adolescent pregnancies followed by negative health impacts. Adolescent pregnancy is associated with adverse things, including mental health. In this case adolescents are faced with the choice whether they will continue or end the pregnancy. The purpose of this scoping review is to find out the final outcome of mental health in adolescent pregnancy. Scoping review is done by adapting the Arksey & O'Malley framework consisting of 5 stages namely determining writing questions with the PEOS (Population, Exposure, Outcome and Study Design) framework, conducting literature searching using relevant databases (PubMed, ProQuest, EBSCO), selecting relevant studies using inclusion and exclusion criteria; perform critical appraisal to assess the quality of literature, perform extraction data, analyze data, map themes and report research results. An assessment of the quality of articles was carried out using the Joanna Briggs Checklist from the Joanna Briggs Institute. Prisms flowchart was used to describe the literature search flow. There were 10 selected articles including oak in grades A and B, where 5 themes included forms of mental disorders, coping strategies, risk factors for depression, the impact of depression on adolescent pregnancy and mental health services in pregnant adolescents. In conclusion, teenagers who experience pregnancy generally experience mental health disorders, in the form of depression even though they are also trying to overcome them. However, in this case there are several factors that increase the risk of adolescent pregnancy such as trauma, HIV / AIDS positive, lack of social, economic, age, education, psychiatric history and lack of emotional support which will worsen the situation so that health care providers need to provide professional counseling and assistance for pregnant teenagers.
