Conceptual Review of Factors Influencing Children’s School Mode Choice Behavior
Abstract
Children have distinctive travel behaviors than adults including mode choice of children’s to and from school. There are many factors influencing mode choice behavior of children’s school. This paper reviews more than 50 papers and presents 15 expert opinions representing factors influencing mode choice behavior of children’s school. Each opinoin has a special and important attention of the factors. How to make these factors simplified so that they can become operational concepts is the challenge. This paper formulates important factors from various opinions about factors influencing mode choice behavior of children’s school. The result shows that this paper simplifies these factors into four factor clusters, namely family environment, social environment, school environment, and policy environment factors.
