Public opinion on causes for inequality in education with special reference to chennai
Abstract
Rising income inequality is breeding more inequality in educational opportunity, which results in greater inequality. The study considers the gender inequality that exists among every region, social class and prevents the growth of indian economy from improving the lives of indian people. Educational difference has created some powerful weapon to create wealth and thereupon dictate and alter economic policies to suit their interests. In the rural areas educated kids leave their places and migrate to cities. Descriptive research method is used to portray accurately the public opinion on causes of inequality in education in chennai. Convenient sampling method is used to collect the 1540 samples. Independent variables are gender, educational qualification and age. Dependent variables are equal opportunity for girls, reasons for inequalities in education and the base for inequality such as religion, income, caste and gender. Bar charts, independent sample t test, chi square and anova are the research tools used in this research. It was found that caste is the main factor determining inequalities in education
