Moderate Nation Character Education in The Perspective of Islamic Re-ligion Education in Higher Education

Abstract

This article describes the national moderate character education in the perspective of Islamic Religious Education in Higher Education, which is important for PTU students. This research used qualitative methods. This research was conducted at Telkom University (TEL-U) Bandung. The data were collected by using observation and interview techniques. This research explained the pattern of moderate national character education in the perspective of Islamic Religious Education in Higher Education taught using lecture, discussion, and assignment methods. The vision of this lecture is the moderate values and the curricula includes aqidah, sharia and morals. This was projected in student education to make them become muttaqin. Furthermore, it helps them to master science, technology, art, and humanities. The evaluation of Islamic Religious Education was done through examinations, assignments, and other tests. The aim for teaching a nationa; moderate character is to prevent and eliminate radical ideologies in campus. The method of moderate character learning was conducted through face-to-face meetings in lectures, mentoring, seminars and others. Assesment was also conducted through question and answer about Islamic insight given to students both in verbal and written conveyed through periodical reports collected from lecturers and mentors.
