Abstract

Due to increasing interconnectivity of power systems day by day due to continuous expansion of electric power usage, the voltage stability of the system and the quality of power reaching to end consumer is affected. Thus, these have become key issues to be addressed in a comprehensive manner for reliable and optimal working of the system. In the deregulated environment, the transmission systems are operating under more stressed conditions and due to increase of transaction level associated with open access, chances of voltage instability is more and the quality of power is also affected which can be detrimental to the power system. In this paper voltage stability of a radial transmission line system has been assessed by obtaining PV curves and the quality of power is measured with the help of PQ Analyzer for linear loads connected at the end of transmission line with and without the capacitive compensation.
