Abstract

Wind energy is one of the developing renewable energy resources. Control of this interface, which consists of generator-side and grid side converters, is a very important and demanding task. The main purpose of controlling the generator-side converter is implementing MPPT technique. Isolated renewable energy systems that are based fully on renewable resources but are at the same time reliable are necessary for meeting the power demands of remote places where utility grid is not available and for which PMSG wind power systems play a crucial role. In this project, a simplified control scheme has been presented for a standalone wind-driven permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG), considering a three- phase variable load with or without unbalance. The proposed scheme exploits the ruggedness and cost- effective PMSG as a viable alternative for an expensive permanent magnet synchronous generator, which is invariably used in standalone wind turbines.
