Abstract

The ever-increasing demand for food, depleting water resources, and massive urbanization are compelling new challenges for next-generation agriculture technology. Beyond producing large yield for feeding an ever-growing population, hitherto unprecedented obligations are expected to be provided in agricultural entrepreneurship: processing, storing, marketing, and distribution. As one of the assuring techniques in addressing the hurdles, pre-to-post-harvest management has been actively examined in recent years. Several enabling technologies are being explored for this most revolutionary and impactful area of modern technology. This paper reviews the potential to significantly raise throughput, enhance resource utilization and increase the quality of produces using the joint capabilities of Information Communication Technologies (ICT) along with the Internet of Things (IoT) and high gains achievable with Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques.
