Abstract

Transportation system has been a part of evolving of humans. One cannot imagine the life without vehicles. To accommodate the vast number of population, the number of vehicles also has been increased rapidly. This also led to increased number of accidents and traffic. The accident and traffic avoidance measures used now a day are all static and old. Also there is no proper management to control speed and noise in restricted area. This paper proposes a systematic solution using   Smart Traffic Control System (STCS) to reduce traffic jams and also to prevent from accidents in critical areas. Here critical area module includes hospital and schools area. So three modules have been proposed, Vehicle module Critical area module and Signal Module .These modules have been implemented using IOT based.. In this paper signal and critical area module continuously transfers data over the IOT and vehicle module receives that data continuously. The algorithms have been implemented using embedded C. So by implementation of these modules, the safety measures are followed for controlling the traffic and accidents are reduced
