The formative evaluation and its contribution to the academic performance of the students

Abstract

Formative evaluation is an approach that considers evaluation as part of the classroom routine with broad benefits for the process of teaching learning, the student's academic performance and the quality of teaching work; It is necessary to be able to have an organizational structural model for the evaluative activity, so that it allows to measure sequentially, through a daily cycle, the student's progress, make timely decisions according to the requirements of the development of knowledge of each student and establish the more suitable strategies for its strengthening. The objective of the work is to carry out a theoretical analysis of the methodological strategies of formative evaluation that allows us to propose an organizational structural model that makes the methodological organization and fulfillment of said activity feasible. The development of the research and its results were obtained by applying a methodology based on the bibliographic review, for which the Desh research method was used. The results of the work are expected to constitute a theoretical contribution to the improvement of the formative evaluation process in the institutions of the Ecuadorian educational system.
