Evaluation Of Growth Performance Of Industrial Development Banks In India: A Case Study Of Sidbi
Abstract
The SIDBI has been instrumental in providing assistance to all manufacturing and service sectors for setting up of new units, modernisation, expansion and diversification of business for micro, small and medium enterprises. Although, various studies have been conducted from time to time regarding different development Banks. But, it has been observed that over the period, there has been progressive growth and change in the policies of the Bank that will influence the performance of Small Industrial Development Bank of India. So, it becomes important to intensively examine the performance of SIDBI. It is with this consideration, that the present study has been undertaken to assess the performance of this institution from different perspectives. In this article an attempt is made to evaluate the growth of Small Industrial Development Bank of India by using different statistical tools. The overall growth of SIDBI has been evaluated with the help of variables like Net Worth, Deposits, Borrowings, Investments, Loans and Advances and Total Assets. By using statistical tools like standard deviation, mean and covariance and descriptive tools like correlation and regression analysis, an attempt is made to evaluate the growth of Small Industrial Development Bank of India during the ten years of research period under study, it is from 2007-08 to 2016-17. With the help of covariance researcher could defined the degree of variance among the variables and identified that the loan and advances are dependent variables which depend on the independent variables like net worth, deposits, borrowings, investments and total assets of the Bank.
