A Review Paper On Parameters Affecting Erosion Wear of Hydro Turbine Steels

Abstract

Problem of erosion wear exists in various industries such as hydro turbine, pumps, nozzles, pipe lines, etc. This leads to a major damage of industrial components and as a result huge amount of resources and money is wasted every year in replacing these components for preventive maintenance or in case of any kind of breakdown. To avoid this, a number of remedies are incorporated such as selecting a material which has higher resistance to erosion or even coating on the materials is also performed to avoid destruction of the materials. In this paper we will study the various parameters affecting the erosion of the components that play a major role in the destruction of these hydro turbine steels. These parameters are mainly slurry material, velocity, impingement angle, slurry concentration, time period of exposure to the slurry atmosphere, etc. The work done by various scientists will be compared in this paper.
