Abstract

The aim of the study was to investigate the surface roughness of the work specimens during turning operations. To study surface roughness machining was performed on SS304 with cryogenically treated and untreated tool bits. This experiment utilizes the full factorial experimental approach for comparison of surface roughness on turned work pieces.. The range of surface roughness, particularly the minimum roughness, achievable mainly with deep cryogenically treated tungsten carbide tool bit, has been experimentally studied by machining stainless steel (304) work piece on CNC lathe.
