Abstract

Cycle time is paramount parameter in production process of any manufacturing organization. Scrap and rework are non productive activities as it increases the overhead cost for an industry. In present work, the effect of cycle time reduction on scrap and rework is investigated. Inappropriate processing leads to generation of scrap and further adding cost to the product. Cycle time analysis is performed and comparative chart is provided which show the reduction and scrap as well. The present research focused on production of four products and aimed to reduce the scrap and rework during production of automobile parts. The results showed that there is significant reduction in scrap PPM value
