Abstract

Distributed Power Flow Controller (DPFC) is a reactive power compensation device that belongs to Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) family. It overcomes the disadvantages of Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC), by eliminating the DC link present between DVR, a series compensation device and STATCOM, a shunt compensation device. DPFC has advantages such as low cost, good controllability and reliability in comparison with UPFC. The proposed DPFC circuit consist of one STATCOM and two DVRs forms a DPFC device for balancing active and reactive voltages. This paper proposes the simulation of single line model of 9 bus system without and with DPFC using MATLAB Simulink and the results are presented. Closed loop analysis is done for the line model of the 9 bus system using PI and FL Controllers and it indicates that FLC has a lesser steady state error of 0.09% when comparing PI controlled DPFC for line model of 9 bus system.
