Abstract

Both vehicular and pedestrian delays are the main constraints in the development of transportation facilities such as pedestrian crossing. To make a smooth movement of pedestrians and vehicles on the facility, both the movements are required to be managed accordingly. In this study, the Shockwave analysis is performed to obtain vehicular delay and pedestrian delay is directly observed at the crossing. A rule violation delay model also used to get the additional vehicular delay due to the rule violation of the pedestrians. The average shockwave delay of the vehicles is calculated as 35.75 sec in each cycle. The rule violation model delay is obtained as 9.22 min. per hour.
