Abstract

This paper concentrates on the Analysis and Design of Skywalk using light Gauge Steel as construction material. The construction materials, Steel are extensively utilized in the assembly of multi-storey buildings [2]. Yet steel construction is hardly ever used and is usually treated too expensive for landed properties. A inexpensive light check steel outline course of action is increasingly being utilized in America, Europe, and Australia. This light measure steel is set up through a cold formed process beyond the use of heat. This procedure encourages steel production to deliver light weight however high tensile sheets. Light gauge steel surfaces covered with zinc composite that totally covers the steel surfaces and seals it from the destructive impact of its environment.

Basically we have analyzed a model of a skywalk which is a type of truss shape which is 10 metre in length and 2.5 metre in width with 3 metre in height. This skywalk is applicable for buildings of G+6 height which are constructed in Delhi zone , the loading conditions which we have apply in the analysis of skywalk is according to Indian Standard codes and conditions are suitable for Delhi zone buildings. We have the use the IS: 801-1975 which is the code for cold formed light gauge, and IS: 801-1987 which is code for cold formed light gauge member specifications [5]. The skywalk is modelled and analyzed using STAAD Pro v8i.According to the analysis done, the results and conclusions are drawn and suggestions are made that we can design use light gauge steel as structural material [1].
