Abstract

Health of the transportation system for a region is clearly defined by stability in travel time and is significant to numerous clients, regardless of whether they are vehicle drivers, travel riders, cargo shippers, or even explorers or just workers, and unwavering quality can make significant difference in efficient use of the system.Travel time is the most concerned factor, after the travel distance. Highway’s effectiveness is directly calculated from the travel time and it is of great importance as congestion is at its peak in urban and sub urban areas. Public transit plays unique and equal role in transport system. It can have diverse effects and impacts based on the reliability factor of the system. Generally a variety of pattern in the travel time is while travelling, though on the same route on different days but at the same time, in other words delays are different on consecutive days i.e. the endless uncertainty experiences by the travellers while moving between two nodes. This is due to the factors that affect the route directly or indirectly, thus affecting the travel time. Therefore travel time is the most important factor considered while designing and planning the road network to ensure travel reliability. The Reliability of the Route 38 from the Inter-State Bus Terminus (ISBT-17), Chandigarh to the New Airport Mohali (Punjab), India is taken into account and analysis is conducted to ensure on time arrival of the passengers due to the importance of the route and destination.
