Design and Study of Rectangular Micro strip Patch Antenna for WLAN Applications
Abstract
In recent years, the microstrip patch antenna has made tremendous strides. The antennas have greater advantages and better opportunities compared to the conventionally manufactured antennas. They are slightly lighter in weight, smaller in length, low cost, smaller in sized and simpler to manufacture and adapt. In addition, the microstrip patches can provide dual and circular polarizations, dual-frequency operations, agility level, broad bandwidth, versatility in feed lines and omnidirectional scanning beam. The material used for substrate is FR4 epoxy, the designed antenna will cover the 5.6 GHz frequency for WLAN applications. The main goal of this paper is to design the microstrip antennas that significantly reduces structural complexity and hence the antenna size with a good radiation pattern. The performance parameters such as S-parameter, Gain, VSWR, directivity of the antenna is obtained and analyzed using ANSYS HFSS software.
