Design and study of frequency reconfigurable antenna for WiMAX / WLAN / Wi-Fi Applications
Abstract
In this paper a frequency selective reconfigurable antenna is implemented for wireless application such as WiMAX, WiLAN and WiFi. The antenna design is printed on low cost FR-4 epoxy substrate. Reconfigurability is achieved by inserting PIN diode switches. The proposed antenna is capable of switching between a wide operating bands of 1GHz -5 GHz. Here three diodes are used and so eight on-off conditions of operations are obtained. The gain and accuracy are increased since three diodes are used, for each case S parameter and gain are calculated. Very low distortion is obtained from the radiation patterns of each case. The performance parameters such as S-parameter, Gain, VSWR, directivity of the antenna is obtained and analyzed using ANSYS HFSS software.
