Globalization and Women Trafficking in Indonesia: Human Security System to Protect Women Rights

Abstract

Globalization provides significant change in various fields, both information technology and socio-cultural. One of the things that are substantial as a result of the negative influence is the people trafficking. Trafficking provides security threats, especially women. This article discusses the issue of women trafficking in Indonesia as a matter of human security and analyzes the impact of globalization on women trafficking and strategies to address these issues. The results showed that globalization has a major impact on women trafficking in Indonesia. From the data of the Implementation Report of the Task Force on the International Organization for Migrants estimates that there are 500,000 women trafficked in Western Europe and ASEAN. The modes used are: Delivery of female migrant workers, sending domestic workers, sex workers, slavery, order brides, culture ambassadors and forced labor. The strategy prepared by the Government of the Republic of Indonesia to overcome the prevention of trafficking of women, namely: 1) making RPJMN 2015-2019 in improving the protection of women; 2) Establish prevention policies, guidelines and mechanisms; 3) Conduct community education; 4) Preparation of regional action plans; 5) Monitoring of shipping companies; 6) Determining immigration control; 7) developing crisis centers; 8) Establishment of a non-procedural TKI task force; 9) Enhanced travel document security.
