Abstract

Each day, millions of people rely on public transport and school buses under the priority of their safety. School and college buses transport more passengers each day than all other modes of mass transit combined. The lack of minimum-security standards governing the school bus and other transportation industry has created a deep security void in the homeland security enterprise. This work examines the security void through an analysis of critical infrastructure methodologies and security strategies deployed worldwide to secure other modes of transportation. Face recognition is an important part for the purpose of security and surveillance in school, college buses and other vehicles using image processing. This paper aims at taking face recognition to a level in which the system can replace the use of passwords and RF I-Cards for access to high security systems. With the use of the Raspberry Pi kit, we aim at making the system cost effective and easy to use, with high performance. It also describes the performance of the vehicle on its basic parameters.  Another add on feature is to improve the security and monitoring system of vehicles entering the campus premises.
