Development and Analysis of Infotainment Programme on Learning of Physical Science at Secondary level schools.

Abstract

The main concern of the teachers in secondary education in one way or the other is making the student to understand the concept in an easy way. There are many techniques introduced in the past for teaching of physical science at secondary level. Teachers are stressed to prepare and use many kinds of learning materials to teach all the content in the given textbook with activity oriented and constructive manner. Generally the classrooms are dominated with the teacher lecture and textbook. Since the textbooks acts as a core of the entire teaching learning process, it is important to provide the content in an entertaining manner. Subject matter is an information and entertainment is the strategy and these two things will go hand in hand. With the advent of infotainment it is possible to link the content and entertainment. Infotainment is coined from the terms information and entertainment. During the childhood period and during the early adolescence period students will have a craze on watching the television. Television is the powerful media in communication. If the teacher prepare a module in an entertaining manner and broadcast it in local television through cable television or satellite radio then the student will engage in the programme and they will learn the content easily and simply. This scenario offers students an opportunity to develop entertaining sense as well as learning skills. Effective teaching that engages students in meaningful learning through individual experiences will promote their ability to make sense of science ideas and reason scientifically.  In this paper the author have throw light on the content of  secondary school science syllabus through the lens of infotainment .
