Abstract

To enhance the reliability and efficiency of the distribution system, the power loss in the system has to be reduced. The losses due to unbalanced loading among the phases at each bus are overlooked. In practice, phase balancing is done by using empirical methods. With this motivation, to consider and study the effect of phase balancing by taking into account time varying consumer loads and distributed generation integration in low voltage distribution network, backward sweep phase balancing algorithm for active feeder is proposed. The algorithm is proposed to achieve whole feeder balancing.  To study the performance of the proposed algorithm, distributed generation integrated IEEE 13 bus feeder is consider with an objective to decrease the power loss and improve the voltage profile with minimum power interruptions.
