The Character of the Pacitan WayangBeber Cartoon as a Cultural Preservation Effortfor Millennial's Generation
Abstract
This study aims to determine the role of multimedia as an alternative and efforts to develop the Pacitan puppet art tradition in the modern era. The research method used the descriptive qualitative involving 20 practitioners, including five animation practitioners, five puppet masters, and ten young people. The interactive model is used as a data analysis process. Data obtained by literature study and interview. The data analysis process includes the collection, reduction, presentation, and conclusion. The results of the research in the form of Wayangbeber characters can be processed into a character that is funny so that it can be an alternative media for future development, which is certainly adapted to the segmentation of its customers. The stages of identification with Pacitan puppets show that this performance can collaborate with animation media that is more in line with the style of the young millennial generation. Traditional art, combined with a variety of technologies, makes this heritage art can exist more and develop.
