Abstract

The relevance of this study is conditioned by the creation of a system for regenerating and recovering motor oil on marine vessels.

Therefore, this article is aimed at identifying the necessary property important to the performance of the above specified system while checking for the occurrence of fuel fractions in motor oil during operation.

The leading approach to solving this task is analytical comparison that allows considering in an integrated manner the influence of the content of fuel fractions and moisture on the viscosity of motor oil in use.

This article presents the study data, discloses the main values of changes in the viscosity of motor oil under the influence of fuel and moisture, and identifies and substantiates the use of devices necessary for measuring the parameter in question.

The article’s data is of practical value to marine fleet as well as to all countries interested in preserving the environment and saving resources.

Keywords: resource saving, motor oil regeneration and recovery, low-sulfur fuel, environment, marine fuel and oil system.
