Abstract

The present research obtains a simulation-analytical model of the functioning of a network information system (NIS), based on the use of a system of generalized indicators for assessing the effectiveness of information exchange (information efficiency). The model is structured and analytically described based on the queueing theory; a generalized algorithm of work is built. The expressions for the adopted information efficiency indicators are determined taking into account specific assumptions and limitations adopted during modeling. Information exchange modeling was carried out; information efficiency of NIS with adopted deterministic structures was assessed based on the information efficiency function and on the following generalized indicators: the efficiency of information transfer and the tangent of bandwidth efficiency angle. The simulation results confirmed the feasibility and operability of the obtained model and allowed formulating specific practical recommendations for improving the information efficiency of the system.

Keywords: network system, information efficiency, generalized algorithm, simulation model, performance indicators, performance function.
