Design and Implementation of IOT based Health Monitoring System for Comatose Patients

Abstract

The importance of health care of society can be measured from the fact by which health is recognized that has been one of the fundamental rights of individuals. There are a lot of IoT trends that are evolved for our safety likely Wearables, Surgical Robotics, Integration of AI, AR, ML, Big Data with IoT.

In this paper, we propose a new system that collects data of various health parameters like pulse rate, body temperature, movement, eye blink, etc. We have also highlighted the literature survey comparing various systems resolving health-related issues using IoT. We have designed a system that uses the IoT platform “ThingSpeak” to monitor the coma patient online. The results include continuous monitoring of the patient by the guardian by constantly logging into the system.  Because of this there is no need for clinical staff or accompanying persons to be physically present to take care of the patient because there is a GSM module to send SMS to doctor and caretaker.
