Abstract

In recent decade’s HSLA steel substituting the use of conventional heat treated grades of steel. The precipitation of carbides and carbonitrides are the main strengthening mechanism of microalloy steel. The mechanical properties such as toughness and impact strength of microalloy steel is Improved without any significant reduction in its ductility.  In present work hot compression test on HSLA steel has been performed within the thermo mechanical simulator. The characterization study of deformed alloy was conducted using optical, scanning and transmission electron microscopy in order to understand the precipitation behaviour of micro-alloy steel. The microstructure behaviour are also studied  under varying cooling rate.
