Abstract

Synthetic aperture radar is an imaging system which produces high resolution image in day and night with any condition of weather. Due to the phase difference between the reflectors on the earth, the responded signal is affected by a granular noise which is called as speckle noise and should be removed by efficient methodologies. There are different wavelet transforms and shrinkage methods for the removal of this speckle noise. This paper discusses wavelet transforms and thresholding methods for removing speckle noise. The characteristics of these transforms associated with different filters are experimented and the comparative analysis shows respective results transforms outperforms the other transforms.
