Evaluation of the Effect of Fixed Orthodontic Retainers with Silver ION Coating on Periodontal Indices

Abstract

Introduction: Since the long-term stability of orthodontic treatment is one of the major challenges for orthodontists, to increase the stability of the corrections made during the treatment, they seek to invent useful methods. The use of fixed retainers as the only way to maintain ideal postoperative alignment, is suggested by many orthodontists. The reason why our study focused on the effects of ion silver coating on the surface of fixed orthodontic retainers in human periodontal conditions, is the lack of adequate research in this area.
