Effectiveness of E-Learning in Rural India and Significance of Self-Directed Learning

Abstract

In the recent days, all businesses including education sector is heavily impacted due to the novel corona virus COVID – 19 not only at India but also across the world. The coronavirus pandemic has led to the confinement of millions; brining almost all the activities to a grinding halt probably this could give us some sense of what nothingness feels like. Education sector is also not exceptional from the clutches of COVID 19 as the all the educational institutions are shut down and initiated online teaching or e-learning in all the possible ways. In this context, an attempt has been made to understand the effectiveness of digital platform, the so called modern ICT tools particularly in rural India and accordingly observations are drawn. In general it is observed from an exhaustive study that e-learning for rural India is still a dream.
