Strategic Development of Nature Tourism using SOAR Analysis

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the development of tourism areas based on analysis techniques Strengths, Opportunities, Aspirations, and Results (SOAR). This research methodology uses a descriptive qualitative approach with case studies. Research data sourced from the results of observations, interviews, documentation, and literature studies. This research is limited to the development of tourism in Padusan Pacet Hot Spring Tourism Area, Indonesia. The results proved that the SOAR analysis technique able to assist, as a tool, a tourism area development strategy. Based on the case studies used in this research, SOAR analysis techniques can identify strategic goals that focused on their application for short-term and long-term strategy. The short oriented plan of the tourism area includes the policy of maintaining the existence of tourism area originalities, the development of promotions, and the idea of remembering the participation of the community to play an active role in the development of the tourism area. Whereas the long-term strategy of Padusan Pacet Hot Spring Tourism Area includes a strategy to strengthen cooperation with outside investors for tourism development and preparation of development plans.
